The beach days of my European childhood and "formative years" were spent in swim briefs ("swimming trunks" was the term, but that means something different here I think?), so it was quite a shift when I moved to Southern California that the ladies get to wear lycra, while the gents wear potato sacks! Not only unflattering, but somehow inherently sexist and (the break point for me) just annoying to wear when in the water! I tried to "go with the flow", or at least find some compromise for a while, but goshdarnit, this country isn't meant to be about compromising to fit in (is it?)!
Last year I bought some cheapies and figured, I don't care what people think, I am just much more comfortable in or out of the water in tighties than flappies!
So, this year, time for an upgrade!
I decided I wanted a pair in olive green. I looked at YuASa but wasn't quite sure about the cut, so ended up going for a.n. other brand that look very fancy at almost twice the price. Did the job. I was looking for a second pair in burnt orange and couldn't find much, but then I got a nice coupon from YuASa for Memorial Day and thought I'd take a punt on their red as the price was good and they looked to be on the orange side of red.
OK, so that's the biography, here's the review!
These are perfect and make me very happy! The more expensive pair (from a.n.other company) are too thick, too confining (almost "crushing" - eek!), and the "luxury" full lining means they take forever to dry :( The YuASa by comparison are nice and springy, don't feel confining at all and dry in less time than it takes me to get a sunburn - which is pretty quick! . . . . and the color is great . . . and the logo, as a hiragana apprentice, makes me chortle every time! Chortling is good, and so are these swim briefs! More colors please! (I am willing to "test drive" purple!)
